A l'époque du 1er album de Melody's Echo Chamber, la chanteuse Melody Prochet formait un couple glamour avec Kevin Parker. Cette fois, le leader de Tame Impala n'est plus là. Le couple s'est désintégré. Pour se consoler, la Française a enregistré en Suède avec d'autres mordus de psyché. Du mythe de Gainsbourg au hip-hop d'Atlanta, du disco au blues touareg, sans oublier quelques riffs à la black Sabbath et un air de flûte, ce disque est une expédition musicale qui dévoile ses beautés au fil des écoutes. Fabuleux.

Kadhja Bonet pourrait offrir sa voix au générique du prochain James Bond. Le succès serait instantané. La jeune californienne esquisse une musique céleste en dorlotant ses instrumetns préférés (harpe, guitare, flûte, violon). Après le passionnant "the visitor", la belle confirme son haut potentiel de séduction à travers les 10 morceaux de "Childqueen". Ici, il y a du cool jazz, de la soul, du RNB et des mélodies folks éthérées à souhait. Bande-son d'un été chaud, ce disque enfile les perles (Delphine, Another time lover) sans discontinuer. Un régal

Un an après l'acclamé "Pure Comedy", Josh Tillman change de cap avec ce disque inspiré par un énième chagrin d'amour enregistré à NY. Son misérabilisme romantique donne de très belles chansons aux accents seventies comme The Palace qu'on aurait pu trouver sur "imagine" de Lennon ou Just Dumb ENough to try, ballade au piano plus qu'inspiréepar Elton John. Ailleurs, le père John flirte avec le rock alcoolque de fin de nuit (Date night), s'interroge sur sa mission d'auteur (the songwriter) et sort le chapeau du pauvre cow-boy solitaire sur le country Please Don't die. Superbe.
